In my kitchen, we can do this all year round, and many of my favorite canning recipes are those hearty meal-in-a-jar recipes that make for a quick heat-and-eat meal after a long day in the garden.
Still, I know that for most people, preserving season starts in the spring, with the first spring berries, peas, and asparagus.
As Creative Canning enters its 3rd spring, and with almost 300 recipes on the site, I decided it was time to spruce things up a bit.
I’ve spent the last month or so redesigning creative canning so that you can find the recipes you need this canning season, whether you’re putting up homemade jam, sweet spring jellies, hearty soups, or pantry stocking tomato canning recipes.
If you have a minute, can you take a look and let me know what you think?
Here’s the new homepage link: Creative Canning
For those of you following along on both of my websites, my Homesteading and DIY site, Practical Self Reliance, also got an update, and now it’s easy to find every preserving recipe you could dream of over there, too. From Cheesemaking to Dehydrating, Freeze Drying, Fermentation, and Charcuterie.
It’s all there, and hopefully, a lot easier for y’all to find.

I would absolutely love your feedback on the new design, and I hope you love the new sites as much as I do.
Until next time, we’ll be here, partying in the snow. Sugaring season will be here soon enough, but for now, we’re soaking up the season.
Thank you for coming along on this ride with me.

Great new look! I have learned so much from you over the years, and now everything is so much easier to find. Well done!
I devoured the old, and I will devour the new!! The new site is prettier, though, which accounts for a great deal with me! And it’s easier to navigate. Well done, Ashley!!
